Cecile Jacobs:
set designs and wall hangings
8) Tree of Life (2002) "The superb set design from Cecile Jacobs is a wonder..."
(Edmonton Journal, August 2002)

82“ high; 33“ wide.

One side of a double-sided portal (Roots & Wings) with centre slit to pass through. The other side is Wings. Life is unending, depicted in the branches of a tree which become roots and vice versa ad infinitum. Sunlight and nourishment will always encourage new growth beyond the parent tree. The Tree itself is cradled in the loving and sustaining arms of an outer Tree which is itself, constantly recycling and endless. Each of the arms depicts the three Ages of Man. The Tree’s roots are constantly nourished by the perfect balance of soil and water, symbolized by the Yin Yang. In Life and Love, these resources are always available. Inspired by Jen Delych's Celtic Tree of Life. Washable by hand.
