The ‘Dragon in the Sky’ has been seen by Man since the beginning of civilisation. Centred on the Polestar, it fills the night sky and is formed from several constellations, including Draco, Ursa Major and Ursa Minor. The belly of the Dragon forms the Yin Yang. The two elements of the Dragon and the Yin Yang have therefore, either separately or together, dominated Art and Culture throughout the Ages in many different guises and diverse civilisations. The great ‘bowl/ bole of civilisation’ that we have inherited and share, is therefore a composite, and made up of shards of some of these incarnations.
The dragon or serpent has always been the symbol of duality as is the Yin Yang. All elements of life have duality and can therefore be seen in at least two opposing ways. The bad/ negative things in life always contain elements of good/ positive and can be turned into good/ positive and vice versa. Life never remains the same, swinging from one extreme to the other, the ongoing swings and balances always to be borne in mind. Washable by hand.
